Through the advancing process most often necessary to learn new spells and certainly to cast them succesfully there will be many hiccups along the way but focus tea can be used to help. Drinking some of this and then "focus"ing on the desired spell (after already learning at it) will give you an estimate of your likelihood of suceeding at various stages as well as learning the different skills for a spell and the type of spell it is.

Focusing is skill based off of ma.sp.special. The accuracy of your information that you recieve from focusing will be dependent off of your ma.sp.special bonus. Through focusing it is possibly to tm ma.points and ma.sp.special.

Focus can be assumed to work similar to wizards spellcheck command. This information about spellcheck was gained from Noda's webpage: Your proficiency at the spellcheck command is determined by your magic.spells.special bonus. The higher your ma.sp.sp, the more accurate your spellchecks. if your bonus is less than around 2.66 times the spell's size in bonus points (see the spell sizes page for more info) then you run a chance of failing a full spellcheck. If your bonus is less than 2 times the size of the spell, you will always fail a full spellcheck. If your bonus is less than 1.5 times the spell's size, you will fail every normal spellcheck of that spell.

However, within the witches guild are also a variety of other items that are "copies" of the wizards. For example, the dangling bob is the witches version of the wizards thaumometer. However, the dangling bob is quite different. This may be the same with focus and spellcheck.

There is a free source of this tea in the water butt outside of Granny's lean to.
